Getting to know your party band

  • Bursting onto the entertainment scene in 2014, John Cooper Band performed live music together for the first time at the World Snooker Final, wowing the crowd whilst sharing the stage with World Champion Mark Selby and Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain. 7 years later and here we are – John Cooper Band.

  • We are a 4-piece band – drums, bass, piano, guitar & 2 singers.

  • John Cooper Band will help you achieve your event entertainment goals because our services cater to such a diverse range of event styles and themes. Hiring a live band with a passion for performance and dancefloor-driven music is a sure-fire way to make your event stand out from the crowd whilst immersing them in it. Our impeccable reputation speaks for itself and your guests will continue to remember your amazing event for years to come.

  • John Cooper Band has a repertoire of over 100 songs from which to choose so be assured you will have great music for everyone.

  • We are more than happy for you to pick which songs from our repertoire are played, but we do prefer to be left to decide the order in which they are played. It is usually best if you let us know any songs you definitely DO or DON’T want rather than a hard and fast list that we feel obliged to not deviate from should the mood require it.

  • Anything’s possible. We are happy to consider learning a song for you such as a first dance or birthday song. At the time of booking please let us know if there is a particular song you would like us to consider learning so we have enough time to learn it well.

  • Here at John Cooper Band, we do our absolute best to be as competitive as possible. We ask that you get in touch with us to request a quote for your event so we can give you our fee. We have to account for a few variants (travel, dates, size of venue, PA requirements), therefore we do not have a ‘fixed’ price. That said, our prices do start from £750.00.

In the meantime here are a few ballpark figures:

    02 January – 30 April | £750.00

    01 May – 31 August | Sunday – Thursday £850.00 | Friday – Saturday £950.00

    01 September – 30 November | Sunday – Thursday £750 | Friday – Saturday £850.00

    01 December – 30 December | £950.00 (excluding Christmas Eve)

    Christmas Day / New Year’s Eve / New Year’s Day | £1250.00

    Public Holidays | £950.00

  • Our standard payment terms are a non-refundable 20% deposit to secure the date, with the balance to be paid no later than 7 days before the event. We are happy to accept cash on the day of the event and a receipt will be provided.

We do also offer a payment plan which allows you to spread the cost of the booking into 4 equal payments between the date of confirmation and up to 7 days prior to the event. These are completely interest-free and because it’s a payment plan rather than credit, doesn’t require a credit search or affect your Experian rating.

  • You can pay your balance by card, bank transfer, or cash on the day.

  • Due to the nature of our business, we only play a handful of public gigs each season. Please visit our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter to be informed of any upcoming public gigs.

Please CLICK HERE or visit our events section in the menu, to see when & where our next public event is being held.

  • You can request this documentation at any time. PAT testing is always up to date and our PLI runs at £10m.

Things you can expect from us

  • We typically need a performance area of 5m(w) x 4m(d), but we are able to squeeze into a minimum area of 4m(w) x 3m(d) if space is limited. We have performed in a variety of venues from manor houses and hotels, to barns, marquees, arenas, ball rooms and intimate clubs so we’re well versed in making the most of whatever space is available to us.

  • Everything draws power, and when you consider all the elements of a live bands equipment – amps, speakers, lighting, haze, etc… It all adds up.

We are usually fine running on one 13a ring-main (split over a few sockets) in smaller venues as we do not need as much volume or lighting. Ideal if we can split between multiple ring-mains to reduce the load on single sockets. A member of the band is a qualified electrician and always carries out a power recce on arrival. For larger venues, we prefer 16a outlets if possible but we can run again from multiple 13a ring-mains.

Our top-end draw for a room with 500+ people is around 5000w, but if you think of it as 10 watts per person at the venue that will be sufficient, with the minimum being around 1200 watts.

  • This all depends on the size of your venue, how easy it is to access the performance area, your lighting & PA requirements. We have had the privilege of playing at a lot of venues across the UK so chances are we will have been there before, but in any case, we will recce the venue prior to your big day.

Once we arrive, unload the vehicles, and load our gear into the performance area it usually takes about 60 minutes to get set, including a short soundcheck.

  • In a word, yes. In all truth, noise limiters are not ideal yet we are finding more venues are installing them so we learn to deal with them. If you let us know in advance of your event we can make sure the equipment that we bring is geared for a venue with a noise limiter.

Your event is approaching, and you are considering your entertainment options – DJ? Function band? how about both? Hiring John Cooper Band will take your event to the next level, keep your dance floor dancing, and give your guests an event to remember. We are a 4-piece function band from Manchester consisting of drums, piano, bass, lead guitar, and two singers. We think 4 is a good number – not too many people to pay… and we throw in the DJ service at no extra cost.

  • We usually play 2x 45-minute sets.

  • Yes, we can! Please give us a list of songs you want and also songs you do not and let us do the rest. Most clients are happy to put their own Spotify playlists through our PA from a device, and this is our preferred method.

If you do have any playlists on streaming media, please share with us in advance of the day so we can seamlessly integrate and get the music playing without hassling you on the day.

  • UK-wide and internationally.

A travel time of 90 minutes or less from M3 4LG (Deansgate, Manchester City Centre), is included in our rate.

If the event is between 90 and 120 minutes of travel time from M3 4LG, we charge an extra £30.00.

If the event is more than 120 minutes of travel time from M3 4LG, we also require local accommodation @ £50/head (x4).
